Most of us approach ministry as a way of serving God by serving others and it is proper that we do so. But like so many things in life, it is very easy to get in a rut, to do the same things the same way without ever questioning the need for a change. It is not that what we are doing is bad; it is more of question of are we missing an opportunity for growth.

This year we ask you to examine your commitments to see first of all if you want to renew them. Being the head of a ministry or a member of a ministry was never meant to be a lifelong commitment. Ask yourself if it is time to groom a successor or to encourage others to take a more active role.
Perhaps it is time to try something new.

Ministry is meant to challenge us, to stretch us in ways that we don’t necessarily want to go. If you don’t feel challenged then ask yourself why not and what can you do about it. Active participation in ministry is as much about our own personal spiritual formation as it is about serving God and others.

The ministry descriptions are numbered consecutively and grouped under one of the five Ministry Divisions: Pastoral Care, Liturgical Life, Spiritual Life, Parish Life and Formation. When the description
of the ministry is in English the ministry is offered in English, if in Spanish it is offered in Spanish.

Prayer is the focus of our Stewardship renewal this year and we know that it is easier to be doing something than spending time in prayer. As you page through this booklet ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in making and renewing your commitments but be especially receptive to his guidance towards
a ministry that will improve your prayer life and your ability to communicate with God and He with you.
All the good works in the world are of little value if they are not drawing us closer to the One we serve.

As always, we are in Jesus,
